Ways to get from Kona to Hilo

Kona and Hilo are on opposite ends  of the Big Island. There are 3 routes  you can take:

1. Northern Route 2. Southern Route 3. Central Route

01.    Northern Route

Driving Time:  3hrs without stopping. Highlights: • Manuela Malasadas Truck • Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site • Hamakua Mac Nuts • Pololu Valley • Waipio Valley • Akaka Falls

02.    Southern Route

Driving Time:  3hrs without stopping. Highlights: • Kona Coffee Farms • Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park • Ka'u Coffee Farm • South Point • Punalu'u Bakeshop Malasadas • Punalu'u Black Sand Beach

03.    Central Route

Driving Time:  1.5hrs without stopping. Highlights: Mountain Thunder Coffee Farm • Mauna Kea Visitor Center • Rainbow Falls
